Sixteen Injured at New York’s Barclays Center in Stampede Prompted By False Alarm About an Active Shooter


Sixteen individuals have been injured at New York’s Barclays Middle on Sunday morning in a stampede prompted by a false alarm about an energetic shooter.

The incident passed off at roughly 1:05 a.m. in the course of the Gervonta Davis-Rolando Romero boxing match.

A New York Metropolis Police Division (NYPD) spokesperson instructed The Hill that somebody yelled a couple of shot being fired and the group started “making an attempt to flee all over the place.”

Seven individuals have been transported to hospitals, the remaining have been handled on the location.

“The whole occasion unfolded over only a few minutes, lasting till police confirmed there was no energetic shooter. It’s unclear what precisely prompted the report of an energetic shooter,” The Hill’s report says.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka was current on the match and tweeted, “I used to be simply within the Barclays middle and all of the sudden I heard shouting and noticed individuals operating, then we have been being yelled at that there was an energetic shooter and we needed to huddle in a room and shut the doorways, I used to be so f-cking petrified man.”

“I actually hope everybody made it out safely, since I’m tweeting this we made it out okay,” she added in a subsequent tweet.
